Wedding Anniversary Invitation Wording
The wedding anniversary invitation wording may differ depending on which anniversary is being celebrated and therefore who is doing the hosting. This may sound like stating the obvious but wording for anniversary invitation will be written from the perspective of the couple, while 50th anniversary invitation wording is more likely to be written by children or grandchildren and so will be written from their point of view.
Wording for anniversary invitations may include an anniversary poem or relevant quote or psalm, though the old adage of keeping it all simple, should always be observed. The simpler the anniversary wording, the less chance of ambiguities and confusion.
Invitations should be sent four to six weeks prior to the party, thus allowing the invitees ample opportunity to RSVP. Generally speaking, organising an anniversary bash is easier than a wedding itself. There may be catering and music to organise, but after many years of marriage, the pressure is well an truly off. Husbands and wives are generally much more experienced and much less nervous than brides and grooms. As a result, the wording in anniversary cards is usually a trifle less formal.
Guests may wish to bring a gift based on either the
modern or traditional anniversary gift list. Those traditionally minded people who might be inclined to bring paper on the 1st anniversary may feel a little daunted at having to bring gold or diamonds for later ones. Don't be dismayed. Unless, you're the Sultan of Brunei, you don't have to literally bring gold and diamonds. Gold may be represented by a gold coloured fabric or flower - well affordable to most of us, while paper could be represented by airplane tickets to some exotic honeymoon destination (oh yes!). If you
are the Sultan of Brunei, then feel free to shower us with diamonds and rubies. Everybody loves an eastern potentate bearing gifts!
Don't forget, you can a have a little fun with anniversary parties as well. Theme based ideas can lighten the mood, and it isn't all about the gifts. Everybody can have a little fun with the gift they bring. If that is the kind of anniversary party you are planning, that mood should be related to in the wording of the invitation.
