Decorating a Cake for a Blue Wedding;
Cake designers usually cover your cake with a base layer of white or blue fondant icing - as this creates a smooth finish and a perfect firm canvas for more intricate and detailed artwork.
Here are some ideas to acheiving the blue, in wedding cake designs;
1. fresh blue flowers,
2. pre-made silk flowers,
3. blue satin or organza ribbon,
4. hand scultptured blue flowers or decorative scrolls made with icing or a combination of all of these.
NOTE: All blue flowers are dipped in dye in the early stages of a flowers growth. There are no natural blue flowers in nature, this is how blue flowers are created.
Tiered Wedding Cakes
Not all cakes can be tiered. If you want a tiered wedding cake it's best to choose either a fruit cake, carrot cake or a mud cake as they are more solid and can take the weight of more cakes on top. Sponge cake is very soft and will fall apart with any extra weight, so it's best left as single tier cake. Your wedding cake bakery will inform you of this.
