Mouth Watering Huge Wedding Cakes

However, big wedding cakes are not for the faint hearted or the budget conscious. Big cakes can be costly, not just for the amount of cake involved.
The assembling of the tiers will take almost three times longer to arrange than a medium sized tiered wedding cake of the same design. Big cakes need some architecture to prevent collapsing under it's own weight or toppling. There must be no nasty accidents.
Extra measures also need to be taken when transporting such an elaborate cake. Depending on your wedding cake design, some cakes can only be assembled at the wedding reception - another extra cost.

Huge wedding cakes are more expensive than the regular sized tier wedding cakes and it's not just because there is more cake.
One of the added expenses is the assembly and arrangement of tiers and averting disaster.
There is a certain amount of difficulty in the setup and the decorating of such big wedding cakes.
Here are a few ways to get around the extra setup costs if you know you need a lot of cake:
Fairy Godmother tip:
Tip #1. You can get several medium sized wedding cakes made and arrange them in a similar fashion to the picture on the left hand side. No chance of cake collapsing.
Tip #2. If you want the appearance of more cake just for the wow factor, have your wedding cake bakery make you a faux wedding cake made out of foam for the bottom tier and have it covered with fondant icing.
This cake is only for show. You only cut and serve the real cakes.
Tip #3. If you need a lot of cake to cater for your guest list, but prefer a medium size delicate wedding cake for show.
Have your dream cake made to size and have your wedding cake designer make extra slabs of cake with the same favouring and frosting.
These extra cakes are kept out of sight, usually in the kitchen. Then served to the guests after the initial cutting of the reception wedding cake.
Tip #4. For simplicity, you could also have several big cakes beautifully decorated and set up separately or on separate tables like this picture on the left.
